I just went through the same thing and I had a hard time getting rid of all of the spyware and whatever else they attached to my computer. My husband worked on it for hours and finally we called our computer guy out and he cleaned up the rest. It is so irritating because you can't do much of anything when the pop ups come one right after the other. Malware Bytes didn't work with the mess I had. I have no problems with pop ups when I use my IPad.

Come with me, back to the 1980s--you know want to.
by FlyingHighNow ini don't know about ya'll, but i did not appreciate the 1980s enough.
i was too busy lamenting how different they were from the 1960s and 1970s to bask in and appreciate how wonderful they were.. this is 80s music, especially new wave music, and 80s fashion and culture appreciation thread.
what did you love about the 80s?

I was in high school in the 70's so for me they were great years. Part of the 80's were good except for 1986 when I made the worst mistake of my life and was baptized, my life was never the same after that until I got out two years ago.
Cantleave, I did those crazy perms in the 80's too! I even came across a picture where I did an Afro, what in the world was I thinking?!? Lol!

Welcome Dale, I hve found both of those websites very interesting along with books written by EX-JW's. It really helps you think straight when you get the facts.

Article: If God saved an American doctor with Ebola, why did he let 1,200 Africans die?
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2014/aug/25/ebola-africans-die-god-american-doctorif god saved an american doctor with ebola, why did he let 1,200 africans die?it must be lovely for people such as dr kent brantly to be so sure of god's existence.
for the rest of us, it's not so easy.

I saw his interview and he was giving God the credit for saving his life. It has bothered me for years that people will make those claims and yet so many millions of people died from lack of proper nutrition, filthy conditions, no medical care and it goes on and on. Then you have these athletics who praise God and thank them for winning the Olympics or their game but what about the other athletics, are they not loved by God?
it makes no sense when you use logic and look at the whole picture. Such a sad thing to do to others.

Will JW.ORG actually harm the WT Society Long Term ?
by flipper inmy son and i were discussing this yesterday over coffee.
since the wt society in previous years virtually demonized going on the internet at all for jw's - now wt leaders are doing a complete turn around or about face probably so as to " compete " or keep up with all the anti-jw websites that are out there to give the wt society point of view.. however- it very well may backfire on them as once people start doing google searches looking for jw.org it will bring up all the other websites dealing with any jw issues and in the privacy of their own homes out of curiosity i'm sure lots of jw's are going to want to check out some of these sites to see what all the " apostate " hoopla is all about.
i wonder how many jw's will do this and will it have an effect in opening more minds to other views ?

I love Autum too, I feel so much better when we get to fall because I do not like hot weather. I love when the air is crisp and the leaves change.

I was 56 when I woke up after spending 30 years in. I was very angry when I woke up but it is getting less and less. I faded when I first left and three weeks ago I sent in my DA letter. Sending that letter really helped me get some closure.
My husband came out with me and life is pretty good right now. We are doing some traveling and having a great time being free. I don't feel like it destroyed our life because we have picked up the pieces and reinvented ourselves.
We also see a therapist who has helped us to move on.

I've lurked a long time: JW's produce some of the most paranoid humans
by Unlearn ini'll keep this brief for now.. long time lurker (4 years or so).. born-in, elder, used on district level (last talk i gave before i left was the baptisimal talk), and lots of hard time put in...before i finally made the move to split.
it's a long stoy, much like many of yours...but with it's own little interesting twists.
more details in the future, perhaps.. as i said, ive lurked here for a while.. its funny: for a long time i'd only come on late at night.

I missed this post when you first posted to it. It is very interesting and I hope it goes well for you. I woke up and my husband came out with me two years ago. He was an elder for years, 3rd and 4th generation born in and was the head of a department on RBC, many KH Building Committee's along with other positions. He didn't like what he saw so he stepped down. I feel very fortunate he came out with me. I was not a born in but came in 32 years ago.
I finally after fading more than two years ago sent in my DA letter. I couldn't move on without telling them exactly how I felt and I didn't want them to be looking over my shoulder when I decorated the house and did what I want to do.
It is wonderful being free! I have enjoyed your story and I am going to check your other posts.

Eating disorders - advice about someone
by 88JM ini'm sure there are probably a few posters on here that have had experience themselves or had family members with eating disorders.
i'm posting here not for myself, but out of concern for someone else.. there is a teenage (about 16, recently baptized) brother who quite obviously has an eating disorder.
i have personally been at a few gatherings and seen him refuse all food while everyone else was eating, with the excuse that "he wasn't hungry", so i can say it's definitely an eating disorder and not some allergy or just a one-off.. i'm also not the only one who has noticed it - i've been in discussions with a few brothers and sisters who have also remarked on his conditon, but don't seem to know any more about it than i do.

There is also another falsehood about men not getting it. Studies are showing that there are more and more men getting it and it is not just women. Another point is that it is very dangerous because it can shut down vital organs so it is a very serious matter.
